Happy Halloween! Thunderbird weekly test build available
31.10.2004
Scott MacGregor celebrates halloween with us by giving out a new weekly build of the upcoming Mozilla Thunderbird 0.9 =)
Come celebrate the Red Sox winning their first world series since 1918 (I was only 5 years old back then Smile !) by helping us test this weekly build of Thunderbird. Hey it's almost been that long since I last had a weekly test build thread!
We've only got a handful of 0.9 bugs left before we wrap up the release and send it out the door! A draft of the release notes should be out in the next couple days.

- Saved Search Folders (aka Virtual Folders)
- The ability to group messages in a folder by sort attributes like Date, Sender, Priority, Label, Account Name, etc. View / Sort By / Group by Sort Attribute (or use the G key)
- Mail Views (the View combo box on the toolbar) are now persisted on a per folder basis instead of a global setting for all folders.
- Attachment names no longer get truncated in the message pane if they are long.
- OS X --> [Minimize Window" and "Zoom Window" in the "Window" menu now work.
- Saved Search Folders for IMAP and news accounts can now search online or offline.
- We no longer show saved search folders in the advanced search dialog and in the saved search folder picker dialog.
- Customize Toolbar window now looks like a dialog instead of a borderless window like Firefox.
- The quick search bar has been styled to show an X inside of it in order to clear quick search text when you have text in the widget.
- Fixed a 0.8 regression where the mail start page was not rendering start pages in non ASCII character sets.
- Single folder virtual folders now remember the last message read when opening the folder like we do for normal folders (if you have that setting turned on)
- Fixed a regression preventing you from scrolling through search results in the advanced addressbook search dialog. Also fixed issues with the Properties and Write buttons not working in this dialog.
- We now hide context menu items that don't make sense for saved search folders from the folder pane context menu.
- Fixed a 0.8 regression with RSS feeds for OS X and Linux users --> if you renamed or moved an RSS folder we lost our knowledge that it was an RSS folder and would not check the folder for new feeds anymore. This is now working.
- You can now open messages from a saved search folder into a stand alone message window.
- We now mark a message as having an attachment when you first get it and not when you first load the message! Thanks to David Bienvenu for fixing this!
- Make Tools / Import / Netscape 4.x work instead of hanging.
- Fixed a crash when renaming a local folder to have a forward slash in the name.
- Fixed some problems when you tried to rename a saved search folder for an IMAP account.
- POP3 biff improvements for Global Inbox users
