Avencius Developer's log: December layout update

It seems there was some spare time left between continuesly playing the game Guild Wars and surfing the web with the latest Opera 7.60 Preview 4.

The website received some subtle layout updates. A new wolf (Canadian Grey Wolf) as the logo, the left sidebar got merged with the right sidebar, fonts changed, text and alignments were changed, and some colors were added. All to make the website a little less crowded to look at.

Hope you'll all like it!

Update: Drupal, the backbone Content Management System, has also been upgraded to 4.5.1. Please report any issues that might be the result of this. Thanks =)

Guild Wars Beta Weekend

A new Guild Wars beta weekend again! And while I have my pre-order betakey, I can already play with an older one-time-only key from last month. Thanks ArenaNet =) I guess they made a mistake with their authentication system, but don't want to spoil it now for the extra betatesters that have joined.

GMail Notifier Beta call

The GMail Notifier is one of my favorite Firefox extension out there, which allows Firefox users to instantly see if they have new mail and can access the GMail site with a mouse click.

Another GMail Notifier Beta Call

Gmail Notifier 0.4 Beta (0.3.20).

The last issue people are reporting is the system notification the notifier uses on Windows doesn't work for some. If you install and enable the notifications (right click on the gmail icon and choose preferences to enable) and see problems, please go to the preferences panel and click on the Debug Console button and post that output here.

Thanks!

AOL releases Netscape prototype browser

AOL has released the new Netscape browser prototype which is based on Mozilla Firefox 0.9.3. Users can test this release which is an early preview of the upcoming return of the Netscape browser. Being based on Firefox 0.9.3 it also includes the tab/windows settings from the Mozilla Suite as well as the old pre-defined form filling. Besides this you can find the new green Netscape skin, extra privacy buttons, as well as extensions for weather and news.

The most important "feature" is the IE compatibility. Users can set per site if they want it to render in Gecko or IE, giving users the option to view incompatible websites. It also however introduces security issues inherit by using IE. Also of special note is that the development of the Netscape browser was outsourced by AOL to a Canadian software firm Mercurial Communications.

Users of Mozilla Firefox will unlikely switch to this release as it contains no additional value. The weather extension is inferior to WeatherFox, the better Firefox/IE form filling is gone, the skin is only busy and distracting non-standard, based on an old Firefox release.

Opera the best pr0n browser!

Aamuli has posted a link to his website which deals with who is the best pr0n browser. There is the Pornzilla Project which deals with Firefox and pr0n, but did you know that Opera is even better?
